MICROIDS RECORDS UNVEILS ITS FIRST BATCH OF ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACKS

Microids Records is delighted to unveil its catalog’s first titles and more information about the label’s ambition. As a reminder, Microids Records is the video game publisher Microids’ new music label. Its goal is to publish Microids games’ original music scores and work on various collaborations with artists and composers from different music styles and backgrounds.

The label’s releases will ship through regular digital and physical “drops” over the year. Each digital drop will include multiple albums from Microids games and other projects. In addition to the original soundtracks from Microids’ games (past, present and future), Microids Records will offer alternative and limited albums as well as original creations. The entire content will be available on main music streaming services.

The physical drops will offer limited edition vinyls, through collaborations with international partners.

Microids Records wishes to position itself as a label putting artists and composers at the center of its ecosystem. Every score or album will be treated as a full-blown art piece rather than a marketing or communication tool. This is why the label will support each digital and limited edition with utmost care and attention.

“This first wave of releases really captures Microids Records’ DNA.” declares Frédéric Claquin, Microids Records’ VP. “It’s a real pleasure to write the first page of our history with some of the biggest, most talented composers out there and work on original projects with artists and composers from outside of the video game space. Microids Records’ goal is to become a top tier partner for composers and studios wishing to bring their creations to a broader audience”.

Syberia 2 and Syberia 3

As the series celebrates its 20-year anniversary, Microids Records invites everyone to (re)discover two of the most classic original scores from Microids’ games. Composed in 2004 and 2017 by Inon Zur, award winning composer whose notoriety goes beyond the video game world. Inon Zur is notably known for composing the scores of Crysis, Prince Of Persia, Soulcalibur, Starfield, the Fallout series as well as Dragon Age.

“I’m so excited to see the Syberia 2 and 3 soundtracks being released by Microids Records” says Inon Zur. “The Syberia brand has always been so close to my heart and a source of great pride for my involvement with this amazing franchise. The enchanted musical world of Syberia is and will always be a very big part of my most beloved repertoire I created throughout the years, and seeing it coming back home to Microids Records makes me so happy and grateful! I really hope that players will enjoy and treasure the music and emotions tied to the game the way I experience them, and will help commemorate Benoit Sokal’s legacy and the Syberia world for years to come!”

Music for Cloned Memory, A Flashback Tribute Album

For the 30-year anniversary of Flashback, ARTtitude produced a tribute album to celebrate the original tracks created by Jean Baudlot and mixed by Raphaël Gesqua. This album includes revisited tunes as well as original tracks, never released before today. Signed by the enigmatic Kurt Cobra, joined for two tracks by the YouTube heavy metal phenomenon Charlie Parra Del Riego, this album, mixing science-fiction, synth-wave and electro, brings a unique cinematic flavor to Flashback’s universe.

“I’m coming straight from another multiverse dimension to bring back order and symphony!” says Kurt Cobra. “Jokes aside, I wanted to thank Microids Records and ARTtitude for giving me the opportunity to work on this project. Nostalgia hit hard as soon as the first note was dropped!”
Arkanoid Eternal Battle

The classic block-breaking game is back in a modernized version! The game’s soundtrack, composed by Xavier Thiry, is adaptative & progressive and fits perfectly with the game experience. Xavier Thiry is a composer, director and producer working in multiple domains including television, advertisement, and cinema. He has worked on many original soundtracks for Pastagames, Arte, Darjeeling, DotEmu, Arkedo and many more. The Arkanoid Eternal Battle score is his first original creation for Microids.

“It was really something special to immerse myself back in this iconic video game and convert its original music to synthwave” declares Xavier Thiry. “I hope this original soundtrack will bring as much joy to the players as it gave me whilst working on it!”

New Joe & Mac : Caveman Ninja

Microids Records invites you to discover the original score composed by Raphaël Gesqua for Mr. Nutz Studio. Heavily involved in the 80’s ‘Demoscene’, Raphaël Gesqua made a name for himself by signing more than 100 original scores for video games and movies since 1991.

“I am really flattered to contribute to the Joe & Mac franchise in 2022, especially after playing this title on various platforms when I was young” comments Raphaël Gesqua. “It’s also a new opportunity for me to work again with Pierre Adane and Philippe Dessoly, my accomplices for more than 30 years. Thank you to Microids Records for allowing this fascinating project both musically and as a whole.”
